Orthomosaics (2D Site Models)

An orthomosaic (sometimes Orthophoto) is a composite image created by combining multiple overlapping photographs of a site. It is similar to a Google Satellite image, except there is a lot more detail, and the image is probably more up-to-date than the Google image. The photographs are geometrically corrected (orthorectified) so that the scale is uniform across the entire image.

To create an orthomosaic of a project, a drone is flown over the project area in multiple passes, taking overlapping photos, which are then processed with specialized software to create the orthomosaic.

An orthomosaic image of the project can be created every week, every month, or other interval, as needed, to show the progress of the project.

Please note that Skyhook Photography does not provide survey grade information. 2D and 3D models are just that: models. For projects where exact measurements are needed, you need to rely on a licensed land surveyor or survey engineer. This is not exclusive to our business; all drone data collection services cannot interpret data unless they have a surveyor on staff. Additionally, we do not show property boundaries on home lots (developed or undeveloped) for the same reasons.
